History[]

Ultraman Taro[]

Mururoa was a monster that resided on the planet of the same name, until his home world was destroyed by the Tron Bomb, a weapon of mass destruction from a European country for the purposes of protecting the Earth from radiation. Physically scarred and mutated, and fueled by vengeance, Mururoa made its way to Earth while cloaked in a veil of Space Moths that also came from Planet Mururoa as well. The monster first made it presence known when it used its Space Moths take down a passenger plane that was carrying the Iwamori parents as they were heading out for a vacation. Mururoa then made its appearance by landing in and attacking an industrial complex that the rest of the Iwamori family were in.

ZAT was on the scene just as the sun was rising to combat the space monster, but none of their weapons did any harm to Mururoa, who swatted their planes out of the sky. Kotaro was also in the area helping the Iwamori reunite after one of its siblings ran off, and knowing that ZAT was in trouble, transformed into Ultraman Taro to resuce them and face Mururoa himself. At first, Taro had the upper hand in battling the monster, but then Mururoa began spewing massive amounts of a thick, black smoke from all over its body, which caused the ultra to gag. Taro was then further weakened after being struck by Mururoa's poisonous spray, which tore into the ultra's body as well. With a combination of the black smoke, the poisonous spray, and the monster beating him into submission, Taro was forced to flee for his life. Mururoa was victorious, and began pumping out even more of his black smoke until the entire Earth was covered in a thick black cloud of perpetual darkness.[1][This is the Land of Ultra!]

With Taro gone for the time being, Mururoa and its swarm of Space Moths would seek out and eliminate any traces of light that could still shine through the monster's smoke. One of which was the Muraishi Cape Lighthouse, where the beast unleashed it swarm so that they could eliminate its light. ZAT was quickly altered of the swarm's appearance and they tried to face it themselves. Although the moths were easily squashed and blasted away by their weapons, their numbers were far too much for ZAT to handle, and eventually, Mururoa destroyed the lighthouse with its poison before retreating back into the darkness. Mururoa would later reappear at the industrial complex from before after learning that some of their lights were still on, and the monster resumed its attack.

With only one option left, ZAT had Ueno utilize an extremely powerful explosive known as the "AZ1974". However it needed to be attached to the monster's forehead for it to be effective. As ZAT tried to hold off Mururoa so that Ueno could plant the device, Taro returned to Earth with the Ultra Brothers, and with them was something else that could help save the Earth: The Ultra Bell. Upon ringing the bell, Mururoa's black smoke immediately lifted from all over the Earth, and the monster's swarm of Space Moths immediately withered and died from the returning light from all over the planet. Mururoa withered in agony from the returning light as well, but in doing so, caused Ueno to hang precariously around the monster's flailing neck. Luckily, Taro appeared on the scene and managed to throw Ueno to safety as he beat down the weakened Mururoa enough so that the monster couldn't fight back. With Mururoa weakened, Taro hurled the monster into the air and the AZ1974 detonated, obliterating Mururoa.[Burn! The 6 Ultra Brothers!]
