Red King (レッドキング, Reddo Kingu) is a monster that first appeared in Ultraman. A dangerous and blood-thirsty monster, Red King's love of fighting and its violent nature often place it in conflict with not only the Ultra Heroes, but his own fellow monsters.[1]

Red King[]

Red King was one of the many monsters who lived on Tatara Island (along with Chandlar, Magular, Suflan, and Pigmon).[2] Red King was seen in battle against Chandlar. The two monsters fought fiercely, with Red King taking full advantage of its much more superior strength over its opponent. Although Chandlar fought back with its Hurricane Winds and was able to draw blood from biting Red King's shoulder, Red King further demonstrated its brutish nature by tearing off one of Chandlar's wings without any trouble whatsoever. Mortally injured, Chandlar fled in great pain, unable to continue fighting, while Red King mocked its opponent by sadistically hurling both Chandlar's own wing and a boulder at the poor monster. When Magular suddenly appeared on the scene shortly after the two monsters' battle, it too was frightened away by Red King's presence as it quickly burrowed away.

Later on, Red King ambushed the Science Patrol when they were with Pigmon and the brutish monster attempted to crush the team with an avalanche of boulders. Arashi and Ide tried their best of fend off the Monster with their weapons, but Red King's tough hide makes their efforts futile. Even when Pigmon tried to distract Red King to help the Science Patrol, the heroic Monster's efforts were in vain as Red King sadistically attacked Pigmon by hurling some boulders at it instead, causing a landslide than struck and tragically killed Pigmon. While Arashi and Ide manage to outwit Red King into exposing the Monster's weakness in its feet, all it did was infuriate Red King even further. Luckily Hayata managed to transform into Ultraman, and the hero flew off to fight Red King instead. Unlike its previous victims, Red King was caught off guard and was no match for Ultraman's power as the hero swung Red King around multiple times by the Monster's neck. Ultraman then threw Red King one last time, this time over his shoulder by its neck, snapping it and killing the Monster both at the same time.[3][The Monster Anarchy Zone]

Red King II[]

Red King II

Red King II

Sometime later, another member of Red King's race was discovered residing in the Japanese Alps.[4] Having somehow managed swim to the Okhotsk Sea and consume 6 dangerous Hydrogen Bombs and then burrow its way back home, Red King II was found sleeping in a Mountainside until it was awoken by the Monsters, Guigass and Dorako, who were fighting nearby. Red King II interfered in their fight to stop the noise, but was quickly provoked when Dorako shoved it into Guigass. Now angry, Red King II attacked Dorako, tearing off the Monster's wings and even managing to temporarily team up with Guigass to beat down Dorako until the Monster fled and died of its injuries off-screen. At one point of their battle though, Red King II and Guigass ran into each other, thus they did battle until Red King II drove Guigass away with its superior strength.

Hayata, who was in the area with the Science Patrol, went off to stop Red King II on his own due to how dangerous the Monster was for consuming the H-Bombs. However, there was little he could do on his own, and he was knocked off a cliff by the angry Red King II after he shot at its tail. Luckily Hayata managed to transform into Ultraman again so that he could battle Red King II, but due to the Monster's instability from the H-Bombs in it, Ultraman had a harder time trying to fight back against the Monster, which allowed Red King II to beat him down in the process. After finding an opening though, Ultraman hit Red King II with a new attack: The Ultra Air Catch. Suspending the Monster in mid-air, Red King II was now vulnerable to attack, thus Ultraman sliced the Monster into thirds with his Ultra-Slashes, taking its head and neck piece into Space so the H-Bombs could be detonated more safely.[5][The Mysterious Comet Tsuifon]

The☆Ultraman[]

Red King was the strongest monster of the Alien Baladon, whom the aliens had found and captured from the depths of space (along with Arstron, Ghostron, Gokinezura, Banila, and Aboras). When the Science Defense Guard began attacking their meteorite, the aliens released the other monsters to deal with the team, but they were too inept to do so, and wound up fighting with each other instead. Thus the aliens released Red King, believing that he would be competent enough to follow their orders. Sure enough, Red King immediately attacked Hikari and Marume upon his release, and chased after the duo while taking out any monster that got in his way. In the process, Ghostron was destroyed by a blast of his red fire, and Gokinezura was fallen by a kick to the gut.

Eventually, the monster caught up to the duo and set his sights on Hikari after he and Marume split up to try and elude the monster. Red King trapped Hikari in a pit that had an explosive planted inside of it, and he tried to kill him with his flames, but Hikari transformed into Ultraman Joneus just in time to escape the blast, taking the fight to Red King instead. Joneus and Red King fought to a standstill, until the ultra was confronted by the remaining monsters: Gokinezura, Banila, and Aboras, who had come to assist Red King in attacking him. Joneus would not give up however, and after destroying the other monsters with his Planium Beam, Red King was the last monster remaining, and Joneus destroyed him with his Boomerang Guillotine attack.[The Island of Monsters]

Ultraman 80[]

Red King 80 EXTRA

Red King was created by Marjin the genie, after three bullies stole his jar in order to wish for a toy of the monster. Already exhausted from granting wishes to several children from before, Marjin granted their wish. However, the bullies didn't specify that they wanted a toy, and thus a real Red King was created instead, who proceeded to go on a rampage to the bullies' horror. To make matters worse, not only did UGM fail to stop the monster's rampage, but Marjin's jar was smashed during a scuffle between the children and the bullies before any of them could wish Red King away.

Taking matters into his own hands, Yamato transformed into Ultraman 80 and he faced Red King himself. Their fight was at a standstill at first, but after Red King sunk its teeth into the ultra's shoulder, the monster proceeded to beat down the weakened ultra. 80 however, determined to teach the children a lesson in not relying on easy solutions, refused help from Ryoko and he turned the tables on the monster after receiving a second wind. Finally, after striking the monster with the Moonsault Kick, 80 destroyed Red King with his Saxium Ray.[Revival of the Fearsome Red King]

Red King mebius - ultra series

Red King as seen in Ultraman Mebius

Red King was resurrected by the gaseous Life-Form, Gadiba, on Tatara Island.[8] When GUYS caught wind of the monster's appearance, they were quick to deploy in order to destroy it. Thanks to Gadiba possessing its body, this Red King's abilities were greatly enhanced from the previous ones from Ultraman and 80's timeline. Even after exposing Red King's weakness being in its feet (thanks to GUYS's Supreme General Chairman assisting the team,) Red King continued to power through their attacks, and the monster then launched itself at George's ship to kill him. Fortunately, Red King was intercepted by the appearance of Ultraman Mebius. Despite Red King's enhanced abilities, the monster was no match for Mebius's strength and cunning, and after Mebius managed to outsmart Red King and find an opening, he finished off the monster with his Mebium Ray. While Red King was defeated however, Gadiba still lived on inside the monster, and the life-form transformed Red King's body into another monster that it had absorbed previously, Gomora.[An Old Friend's Visit]

Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle[]

Red King was one of the many monsters that lived on Planet Boris. When Capt. Hyuga, Haruna, and Oki of the ZAP SPACY were exploring one of Boris's Excavation Site to go find help (shortly after crash-landing on the planet,) the three of them witnessed the two monsters, Telesdon and Sadolar, battling fiercely. Their fight however was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Red King, who managed to beat down Telesdon and strangle Sadolar to death with ease. Red King then turned its attention to the ZAP SPACY after Oki's excited cheering alerted the monster of their presence and Red King tried to kill them next. The members' weapons on hand were no match for Red King's brute strength and they were nearly about to be killed until Telesdon recovered and resumed its fight with Red King again.

What became of their fight afterwards is unknown as after sometime passed, Red King went to go confront the ZAP SPACY on its own, intent on settling its unfinished business with them. Even with more weapons at their disposal now, including missiles and cannons, their weapons only wound up angering Red King even further. Suddenly during the commotion, the ZAP SPACY noticed that a man they had saved early (soon to be revealed as Rei) had escaped from the Pendragon and went off to confront Red King himself. At that moment, Rei wiped out an unusual device known as the "Battlenizer," and out from it appeared the monster, Gomora. Red King and Gomora fought fiercely, but unlike its fight with Telesdon and Sadolar, Red King was severely outmatched by Rei's Gomora. Ultimately, after blasting Red King with its Super Oscillatory Ray, Gomora stabbed Red King with its horn, charging the monster's innards with its Super Oscillatory Ray from the inside, destroying Red King in the process.[The Lawless Monster Planet]

Sometime later, another Red King was summoned (along with the monsters, Telesdon and Neronga) by the life-form, Bullton to fend off Rei and Gomora from attacking it. For most of the fight, Red King did not participate, letting Telesdon and Neronga double-team Gomora themselves. However, once Neronga, Bullton, and Telesdon were destroyed, Red King was left to face Gomora on its own. Despite the other monsters' involvement in weakening Gomora earlier, Red King was no match for both Gomora and Litra, and was destroyed as well after Fire Litra launched its Fire Strike attack down Red King's throat, which was then followed up by another Super Oscillatory Ray fired by Gomora.[The Stone Which Calls Monsters]

Another Red King was seen in battle against the monster, Arstron. The two monsters' battle destroyed Belargo City's Observatory, killing Karen's father in the process. During their fight though, Karen stumbled across the baby that would grow up to be Rei, thus she took him to safety. What became of the two monsters' fight afterwards is unknown.[Ultraman]

Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie[]

Red King reappeared as one of Ultraman Belial's revived 100 Monster Army. Red King teamed up with fellow monsters, Lunaticks, Roberuga II, Alien Valkie, Frogros (B), Mukadender, Jashrine, Angross, Gromite, Kelbim, Birdon, Alien Temperor, Arstron, Alien Hipporit, Telesdon, and Zoa Muruchi to take on Ultraman Mebius and Gomora in the Monster Graveyard. It was eventually destroyed after being kicked numerous times by the returning Ultraman Zero.

Later, Red King joined the rest of Ultraman Belial's Monsters in forming the Conglomerate Monster, Belyudra. Red King is one of the monsters that makes up the left horn.

Ultra Zero Fight[]

THE Red King (THE・レッドキング, Za Reddo Kingu) served the Alien Bat known as "Gurashie" as part of his "Four Beast Warriors of Hell". Red King was the first of the Beast Warriors to be Ultraman Zero's opponent and while It did not battle as itself persay, Red King did manage to batter around Zero for a brief moment while he was trapped in the Tector Gear Hatred until it was transformed into EX Red King by Its master.

Ultraman Ginga[]

Ginga Episode 8

Red King as seen in Ultraman Ginga

Red King was one of the many monsters (and ultras) who were transformed into spark dolls during the Dark Spark War.[9] His spark doll was discovered by Hikaru and Chigusa while they and their friends were exploring Mt. Furuboshi, with Chigusa taking a liking towards it. However, the spark doll (along with Hanazagiran, King Crab, Bemstar, Seagorath, and Baraba,) were all taken by Alien Icarus, who would then DarkLive with all of the procured spark dolls, transforming himself into Tyrant. However after Alien Icarus and Tyrant were both destroyed by Ultraman Tiga (Lived by Hikaru) and Jean-Nine, Red King's spark doll was returned to normal and was gathered up by Hikaru and his friends.[Ultraman Ginga Theater Special]

Later on, Misuzu would use the Red King spark doll to transform after her prayers to protect Hikaru summoned a Ginga Light Spark in order to confront Kuwabara, who had been DarkLived into Zaragas by Gray, the Alien Nackle. However even while being Red King, Misuzu's cowardice hindered her ability to fight, and Red King was quickly overpowered by Zaragas. Fortunately, Hikaru was reunited with the Ginga Spark (which had been stolen from him by Kuwabara,) and together, Ultraman Ginga and Red King managed to turn the fight back to their favor. Suddenly, Zaragas transformed even further by adorning its body with spikes, and with its new powers, Zaragas quickly defeated Red King by stabbing the monster with its spikes and electrocuting Misuzu, reducing her and Red King's spark doll back to normal.[The Stolen Ginga Spark]

Ultraman X[]

Red King was one of the few spark dolls that were still buried beneath the Earth, unaffected by the Ultra Flare.[10] It was however transformed into a monster after Dark Thunder Energy (which had been attracted to Earth by the Space Monster Cat, Mu) rained down from the sky and struck it underground, where it emerged in Area T-3 to rampage. Luckily, Daichi was already on the scene and he quickly transformed into Ultraman X to fight back. Ultraman X however was instead confronted by the amorous affection of Mu, allowing Red King, who was temporarily confused by the embarrassing scene, to take advantage by rampaging once more. Although weirded out by Mu's love, the ultra insisted on fighting Red King, to which Red King prepared to fight back. Mu then became protective of her lover and she attempted to fight Red King as well, only for her to be tossed aside by the bigger, stronger monster. No longer being held back, Ultraman X fought Red King with him prevailing (along with Mu trying to assist the Ultra by continuing to fight Red King as well.) Suddenly during the fight, more Dark Thunder Energy appeared and struck Red King, mutating the monster by beefing it up and transforming it into EX Red King![Wataru's Romance]

Ultraman R/B[]

Red King was one of the many Monster Crystals that was in the possession of Makoto Aizen.[11] Summoning his monster in Muhoyama, Red King was making his way to Ayaka-shi when the monster was stopped by the appearance of Ultraman Rosso and Ultraman Blu. The ultraman brothers fought hard, but Red King's brute strength was too much for Rosso and Blu to handle, even with the two of them working together. Red King even showed his superiority by catching one of Rosso's Strike Spheres and hurling it back at the ultra. Finally after knocking both Rosso and Blu into a nearby mountainside, Red King left the scene, leaving the ultraman brothers defeated.

The next day, Aizen summoned Red King again in Muhoyama, and the monster immediately resumed his path of destruction to Ayaka-shi when he was intercepted by Ultraman Blu. Unfortunately without the help of Rosso, Blu was quickly overwhelmed by Red King, who beat the ultra down until backup arrived in the form of Ultraman Rosso (Katsumi needed some convincing from Coach Kumashiro to complete his mission). Despite Rosso's assistance though, his injury from his last fight with Red King hadn't healed up fully, and the monster exploited this in their rematch. However after remembering that he was given some more Ultra Crystals by Kumashiro last night, Rosso summoned his R/B Slugger and charged it with the Zero Crystal, boosting its strength immensely. Finally with Blu simultaneously healing his injury, Rosso struck Red King with his Zero Twin Slicer attack, destroying the monster.[Winning Ball of Light]

Ultra Galaxy Fight: New Generation Heroes[]

While battling against Ultraman Ribut in a subspace he had fled to, Ultraman Tregear learned of Ultra Dark Killer's defeat at the hands of Ultraman Ruebe, and thus used some of his power to revive him and Ultraman Zero Darkness to fight once more. Using the distraction to his advantage, Tregear summoned two Red Kings to fight Ribut in his place while he fled the scene. Despite being taken by surprise from the ambush, Ribut managed to regain his focus and held off both Red Kings on his own. After a short tussle, the monster duo were destroyed by Ribut's Remote Cutter attack.

Ultraman Z[]

Red King A

Red King "A" as seen in Ultraman Z

Two Red Kings, a male and female, were awoken after some construction on a Quarry in Fukama City disturbed their home, driving them to go on a rampage.[12] With the male Red King attacking Fukama City itself, STORAGE sprung into action, with Yoko facing the monster in the newly-built King Joe STORAGE Custom. At the same time, Haruki (whom was visiting his mother in the city at the same time, faced the monster himself by transforming into Ultraman Z moments before Red King could (unintentionally) trample a boy during its rampage. Having turned into his Beta Smash form and rescuing the boy, Z and Red King wrestled with one another, with King Joe STORAGE Custom arriving just in time to assist the ultra in battle. During their fight though, Yoko learned of the female Red King's appearance near the cave they emerged from, thus King Joe STORAGE Custom was forced to face the newcomer instead, leaving Z to deal with the male Red King on his own. The ultra grew desperate to finish the fight once Red King proved its superior strength over his, and hoping to finish the fight quickly, Z weakened Red King by striking him with his Lightning Generade attack. With the monster stunned, the ultra destroyed him with his M78 Style Shining Tornado Slash attack.

Red King B

Red King "B" as seen in Ultraman Z

With the male Red King dealt with, Z turned into his Gamma Future form and immediately reunited with Yoko and King Joe to assist them in battling the female Red King. During their fight though, Z noticed that the other Red King was being fiercely protective of the cave they came out from, even after the ultra struck her with attack-after-attack. During the fight, Haruki soon found out why... An egg belonging to the Red Kings was seen by the cave's entrance, revealing that the Red King they were fighting was its parents. Remembering what had happened to his own father (whom was killed trying to protect Haruki from the monster Giestron), and that he had just killed one of the egg's parents, Haruki was horrified by what he had done. Noticing that Ultraman Z wasn't fighting anymore, Yoko attempted to kill the female Red King with King Joe's Pedanium Particle Cannon. However, Haruki managed to regain control just in time to have Z stop the attack and instead redirect it back at the robot, taking King Joe STORAGE Custom out of commission, much to Yoko's shock and anger. With the robot disabled, Z motioned to the equally surprised Red King to leave while she had the chance, and the monster did so, taking her egg with her and fleeing back underground from whence they came.[What Must Be Defended]

The female Red King was later ambushed by Ultroid Zero (who had been hijacked by a Celebro-possessed Yoko to absorb monsters from all over the world). Red King tried her best to protect her egg from the berserk machine, but was quickly defeated and absorbed by Ultroid Zero. The robot attempted to absorb her egg next, but was stopped just in time by Ultraman Z attacking with his Z Sluggers. The egg of the Red King family was then placed in a remote location, while the female Red King's head and body would later be used as a major component of Ultroid Zero's mutation into the abomination: Destrudos.[The Game to Extinction]

Ultraman Decker[]

Red King in Ultraman Decker

Red King as seen in Ultraman Decker

Red King had appeared in Natsumi City one day and immediately went on a rampage.[13] The monster was quickly confronted by GUTS-Select, but despite the team's best efforts, and even some additional help from Kanata's Dimension Card of Windom, Red King was able to power through their assaults and continue on with its rampage. As Red King continued its attack on the city, the monster was then confronted by a new challenger: A Gregore named Grace. Unlike GUTS-Select and Windom, Grace was a far tougher opponent for Red King to deal with, as the alien was able to physically match the monster's natural strength. However because his time being trapped on Earth had severely weakened him, Grace began to falter, allowing Red King to overpower him. Witnessing that the Gregore's intentions were good, GUTS-Select opted to help Grace by blasting at the monster's neck, weakening Red King and allowing Grace to gain a second wind duting their battle. Overwhelmed, Red King immediately burrowed away.

Sphere-Red King

Sphere-Red King

A few days later, while recuperating, Red King had been exposed to a cluster of Spheres, mutating him into Sphere-Red King (スフィアレッドキング, Sufia Reddo Kingu).[14] Now powered-up to a greater level of strength, Sphere-Red King sought out and attacked Grace while he was battling against GUTS-Select (a request he had made to the team to face them in a fair fight), intent on finishing their fight from before. So as to not disturb the alien's last moments with GUTS-Select, Kanata transformed into Ultraman Decker and he faced Sphere-Red King instead. Thanks to the Spheres enhancing the monster's strength though, Sphere-Red King easily fought off Decker, even after he had switching to Strong Type. Knowing that saving Decker was more important than his fight with GUTS-Select, Grace abandoned their fight, and the alien and ultra worked together to take on the mutated monster. GUTS-Selected assisted the duo as well by preparing to fire their Hyper Thorn Laser at Sphere-Red King, but because the mutated monster was thrashing around too wildly, the team couldn't prepare a clean shot. With no other option, Grace tossed Decker aside and held onto Sphere-Red King long enough for GUTS-Select to fire their laser at both of them, obliterating the mutated monster. Acting quickly though, Decker switched to Miracle Type and used his Triple Mons Scram ability to summon Windom, Miclas, and Agira to rescue Grace before he could be killed by the explosion.[15][Standing Tall for Someone Special]

Ultraman Blazar[]

Red King II as seen in Ultraman Blazar

Red King II was engaged in battle with the monster Guigass in the Japanese Alps.[16] After bombarding his opponent with boulders however, Guigass was overwhelmed and ultimately submitted to the stronger monster, making Red King II victorious and turning Guigass into the monster's servant.

Later, Red King II sent Guigass to attack Matsumoto City, where the monster was quickly confronted by Earth Garon and SKaRD. The robot and the monster fought fiercely until Red King II burrowed onto the scene to assist his servant in double-teaming Earth Garon. Despite some bumbling accidents between the two, Red King II and Guigass managed to work together in overpowering Earth Garon. Realizing that SKaRD was in trouble (and after noticing that Tetsuo and Miss Michiko were in danger), Gento transformed into Ultraman Blazar, and he evened out the fight by assisting Earth Garon in fighting off the monster duo. Despite Earth Garon and Blazar's best efforts, the robot and ultra were soon overpowered by the monsters until they were both frozen by Guigass's Ice Breath. Before Red King II could deliver the killing blow to Blazar, the ultra summoned Firdran to form his Firdran Armor, thawing himself out of his ice coating. Both Red King II and Guigass's teamwork were no match for Blazar's powered-up abilities, and after Earth Garon was thawed out of his ice coating as well, both Red King II and Guigass were destroyed by a combination of Blazar's Tilsofird Enryusha and Earth Garon's Earth Fire. With Ultraman Zero also trapped in the Tector Gear Hatred by Glacier, EX Red King did not hesitate in beating down the weakened Ultra without mercy. Then as a stray Pigmon appeared on the scene (whom was accidentally revived by Glacier,) EX Red King attempted to crush the harmless monster, but was blocked by Ultraman Zero! Zero, disgusted by the Monster's actions, broke free from the Tector Gear and transformed into his Strong Corona form. EX Red King was one of the many spark dolls that was in the possession of Exceller and Android One Zero.[18] Shortly after Sho and Shepardon destroyed her Chiburoids squadron. The android MonsLived into the monster, intent on stealing more Victorium crystals from the underground uninterrupted. EX Red King was immediately confronted by Shepardon and the two monsters fought fiercely, but Shepardon was soon overpowered after EX Red King struck him with its Flame Road attack. Before the monster could do anymore harm to his home's guardian beast, Sho transformed into Ultraman Victory for the first-time ever, and he fought against EX Red King, while Shepardon fled back to the underground for his safety. Despite Victory's best efforts though, the new ultra wasn't physically strong enough to fend off EX Red King on his own, and One Zero's objective was completed after teleporting another Victorium crystal away.

During the fight, also in the area was Hikaru Raido, who was brought to Shizukugaoka after receiving a message from Ginga urging him to head there. After witnessing the battle between the monsters and ultra, and the team of UPG being pinned under a boulder, Ginga returned to Hikaru after being separated for two years. With the ability to transform once more, Hikaru transformed into Ultraman Ginga, rescued UPG from being pinned, and went off to face EX Red King instead. Although Ginga's strength was not enough to overpower EX Red King physically, Ginga would not give up. Finally after countering one of the monster's Flame Road attacks with his Ginga Thunderbolt attack, Ginga immediately struck EX Red King with his Ginga Cross Shoot, reducing the monster back into a spark doll once more. However, the monster's spark doll was immediately confiscated by Victory, who would use its power to create one of the ultra's many Victory Lances, with the spark doll taking the form of the monster's fist, known as the "EX Red King Knuckle".[Power to Open Up]

Exceed X managed to turn the tables on EX Red King, beating down the monster with ease and the ultra purified the monster with the Exceed X Slash attack, transforming the monster back to normal Red King. Now with the monster weakened, Exceed X turned back into Ultraman X and destroyed Red King with the Xanadium Beam, reducing it back into a Spark Doll.[Wataru's Romance]

Later, Red King (along with Gomora, and Demaaga) were temporarily revived and transformed into their mutated states (EX Red King, EX Gomora, and Tsurugi Demaaga) after a Dark Lightning attack was fired at their Spark Dolls by Greeza.
